Wishing Stephen! a bright tomorrow...and a podcast trail #AdamAndJoe

Not only the precipitator of a worldwide phenomenon but also I feel, part of the 6Music family, Steve (Stephen!) Curran had a beautiful earworm played out by Shaun W Keaveny the other morning to mark his last day in a long-held position of work. You can popropriate the arse out of this by singing "Steve's Leaving Work". I know I did.

6Music has been using the term "best bits" in this trail for over a week now. I think they mean the podcasts*.

If you're tickled senseless with the memory of when Joe was a bit cross but felt unable to do his own ranting on air, you can relive the glorious memory in all it's volume and giggles, here (other clips are available, or probably will be in the fullness of time).

If a podcast simply isn't long enough for you, sadly there are only a few more hours to catch to the final Glastonbury show on the iPlayer and don't forget to check out the latest 6Music blog entry to orientate yourself while you're listening.

*I do have issue with this, lovely Beeb. If people 'go to the 6Music website' as suggested, they see a link marked Best Bits but it doesn't have anything about Adam and Joe. You'd have to know they were referring to the podcasts to try that link in the menu bar and since they are understandably no longer listed in the programmes department, a newcomer to the station would probably leave with a shrug.

Furthermore, the Glastonbury shows were only accessible via the Glastonbury microsite and not through Adam and Joe's area. The effect on their placement in the Most Popular section of the iPlayer was quite dramatic as a result. Just Saying.

Two More Trails with Adam and Joe #AdamAndJoe

This is a compilation from the 2011 season encouraging podcast listening..........although they don't actually say that.

....and here's another Glastonbury trail

Glastonbury 2011 with Adam and Joe

After the last few weeks with no Adam and Joe trails clipped from the aired shows, they leave us with a combo for Glastonbury.

Adam is using his professional chocolatey tones that should frankly be keeping his children in golden shoes from endless voice-over work. Joe's using his Back Row voice. It's not his Adam and Joe voice. It's not his This Is the Film Wot I Done Myself voice. I guess it's his I'll Read These Exact Words Written Here as Though I'm Talking To My Cat voice. There's no end to these idiotholes' versatility.

Don't forget if you're going to Worthy Farm and can be up and on site as early as 10am on Saturday, you can wander down to the left hand side of the Pyramid stage to complete your Squadron Command in the presence of our leaders.  More details at the Adam and Joe 6Music Blog where you can also download a Pierce Bronhomme mask to wear.

The Guardian are expecting Stephenage and have included the 6Music Glastonbury coverage as their pick of the day.

6Music Win Top Award and This Week's Trail #AdamAndJoe

Mwa2011

It is output like this that has made BBC 6Music the National Radio Station of the Year.

We are sadly counting down the final four weeks of Adam and Joe Radio Shows.

I don't want to talk about it.

Flailing a trailer at you #AdamAndJoe

Just to keep things tidy, here is the trail made from last week's show. Of course, it doesn't allow for Garth standing in next Saturday. I'm hoping they'll play his "I'm not Joe. Joe is the one that you know" jingle at some point.  It's here if they need it.....

Trailer Tramp #AdamAndJoe

Here's this week's trailer, as Adam gets closer to communing with people of the street.

May I take this opportunity to mention a few diary points? Thanks, you're awfully kind.

Joe will premiere his film, "Attack the Block" at Vue in London's shiny Leicester Square on Wednesday, 4th May 2011 and the 10 minute Film4 Specials start on the HD area of their dining room on 6th May.

Adam's episode of "And the winner is..." will air at 10pm on Saturday, 7th May 2011.

This week's trail #AdamAndJoe

Just to prove that I still have a pulse and that Adam and Joe can still quicken it, here is the latest trail cut from last weekend's show.

From 9th April 2011 show....airing during the following week.

The Podcast has not slipped from the top of the iTunes Main chart since two hours after the first one went up.  The episode is being selfishly kept from the top by Gervais-based fodder.

Even on a Friday, the full Listen Again show is in the top 30 of all BBC radio but it was in the top ten earlier in the week, of course.  The Adam and Joe Blog has links to the Black Squadron photo galleries and hopefully another picture from James Hood soon.

Since standing down from nugget duties, I've put a page of links together here and to spare the Twitter feeds of that tiny proportion of my followers who are not interested in every breath the idiotholes take on a Saturday morning, I have another tiny twitter account. To be honest, you don't need to follow it. You're best just tuning into WickWox's wickle list for the morning or just punch the ol' #Twitsquadron into your device (works best in an app, if you like to tweet as well as read).

You'll soon find out that I don't have a clue what I'm doing there but I did make a Facebook Page in anticipation of someone sending me a peripheral for my brain that will enable me to use it properly.

My life motto(for today): Don't expect miracles and life will always amaze you.

The Trail featuring Professor Doctor David Cox and PodcastTriumph! #AdamAndJoe

I know I promised I wouldn't bother this area of the net for a while but some things cannot go unmarked.

There has been a third trail today and this one features a clip from Saturday's show.  Despite this name wonkerisation being nipped from the Podcast(or did I just miss it?), it's been blasting down the airwaves this afternoon.  Joe can be forgiven for this tongue slip because a) he has a lovely, albeit over-active tongue and b) he has a lovely friend who goes by that name.

Listen out for Joe's operatic warbling in the background of this music. Please let James give us this as a nice, clean mp3.

From 4th April 2011

With no further encouragement needed, their dreams have been answered and the Podcast went in at number one in the Comedy chart with minutes of being launched (at 7pm on Saturday). Of course, that is admirable but not quite the top potato.
However, a couple of hours later, it was #1 in the main Podcast Chart.

Earlier today, the Denny Different episode went on to claim #4 in the Episode chart where it remains as I write.

A Fond Adieu to Andrew Collins, Richard Herring and Michael Legge

Andrew Collins was joined by his friend, Michael Legge to perform the last deputising show of their ever expanding run in the 10am - 1pm Saturday slot today.

I'd like to say he'd kept the slot clean and tidy for Adam and Joe but most of the shows included his other friend, Richard Herring who is renowned for his fascination, nay obsession with messy slots. What I will say is that they certainly made it their very own and are most deserving of all the weeping heard up and down the country at lunchtime today.

Do catch their final-for-the-time-being show on the iPlayer while you can. It was a thing of beauty. We know Andrew to be a sensitive and emotional little thing but he seemed to keep it together with a confidence that implied he knows he'll never be far away from 6Music.

There was a trail

and then a song

You may know that even if some kind of bias can occasionally be detected, in the big scheme of things, I have no favourites. This is what I actually tweeted:

Swtweet
If there's one thing that Andrew and I might have in common, it's the desire to maintain a sense of balance, so he finished the show with Joe's song and some thank yous.

I'm sure you need no reminder but Collins and Herring have a long-standing Collings and Herrin Podcast that will effortlessly delight and offend your ears at the push of a button.

We can look forward to Andrew's BBC Radio 4 drama called Mr Blue Sky starting on 16th May in the morning and that very evening Richard will begin what must be the third series of As It Occurs To Me  for which you can buy tickets here.  In some kind of genuis/idiotic way, such is the energy of the man, he may be coming to a town near you with his Christ On A Bike tour, as well.
