Behind the Scenes of Song Wars #AdamAndJoe #SaveBBC6Music

It's tough when you're holding down several jobs and expected to produce a side-splittingly adroit song every couple of months but somehow, somehow Adam and Joe manage to do it.
In today's dribble, they give us a unique, behind-the-scenes insight into how flippin' awful Song Wars could be if they didn't have a tiny modicum of self-respect beaten into them.

Uncle Fiddles has a day release for theProtest #SaveBBC6Music #AdamAndJoe

I just had the message I've been waiting for from the prison wardens to say that my dear Uncle Fiddles' application for a day pass has been granted so he will be able to look after me at today's protest. Of course, I'll have to persuade him that the 6Music cause is more important than a bit of hanky-panky, so wish me luck.

Are you going to be there? Remember: sensible shoes, a clean hankie and the correct bus fare home.

A couple of nuggets that might help you through the day. Keep it calm and obey the rules.

"Joe Cornish is a fantastic director" #AdamAndJoe #SaveBBC6Music

I see a ridiculous number of films and my choices are not contingent on other people's opinions so I try to avoid reviews beforehand. However, there are some peoples' opinions that I like to hear after the event and of course, the Good Doctor Kermode is one of those.  I made an exception this week, due to a kind alert on Twitter and listened to yesterday's show much earlier than I would normally do.
This is the gift, hidden therein.

Thank you for that, Ms Whittaker.  Calmed my nerves while waiting for an important phone call.

The Jonze Faves/Worsties saga continues #AdamAndJoe #SaveBBC6Music

I didn't want to overload anyone's delight organs yesterday so I saved this for twentyfour hours.

As you probably know, after they'd gone off air each Saturday, Adam and Joe would linger a little longer to record an intro and outro for the podcast and they continued to discuss Adam's upcoming interview here.

Podcast for the 5th December 2009 show.

A week later, Adam ran a little post-mortem on the event describing how, from the mellow comfort of his sofa at home, Torpedo Commander Cornballs was able to remotely rattle the sensitive soul of our beloved Buckles.

Spike Jonze: Who? What? Who? Faves? @TheWorsties ? Boggins? Jedward?Byeee #AdamAndJoe #SaveBBC6Music

I love it when a particular dribble presents itself as a candidate for my daily post, rather than leaving me to plunder the endless depths of priceless nonsense in my locker unaided.

On Monday @ultrabrilliant randomly tweeted "Faves? Worsties?" and I couldn't resist the rather obvious reply of "6Music" and "BBC Trust".  I told the lovely @cheznoir that I'd find this beloved bobble for today's post.

One of the best parts of this is our old favourite:- the uncontrollable giggles (wherein Joe sounds like a flock of gently gagged Canadian geese).

This was from the first show in the new 10am till 1pm slot broadcast on the day that Adam Buxton interviewed Spike Jonze at the Apple Store in Regent's Street about "Where the Wild Things Are".

For last week's Guardian Live Webchat with Adam, several people submitted these cutting edge questions and he was gracious enough to respond thus:-

1. What do you do? ?- Professional stupidman
2. Who do you do? ?- lovely wife
3. Faves? ?- my children and music
4. Worsties? ?- rudeness and litter
5. Jedward? ?- Nonethanks
Byeeee

Stay tuned tomorrow for a couple more ear salves about this momentous event.

@TheWorsties saw our tweets and offered the hand of help and friendship. They're on tour at the moment and they seem to be unsigned so take a little lookie here. They're "Alt Rock Music with Sex Appeal". This must surely be what everyone has been waiting for.

If you don't know what Jedward is a) you've not been in the UK during the last six months b) you're enviably sane.

I'm sad to report that Adam didn't seem to pick the right moment to probe the Jonzenator these answers but you can hear and see photos of his interview on iTunes and read lots more lovely stuff on Adam's blog. Can I draw particular attention to the YouTube comments page? Are there really people like this on my planet?

Finally, if you're prepared for a possible wait in a crowded virtual room, you can view Spike's beautiful Absolut film  "I'm Here".

Brian Gittins Plays Deal or No Deal #AdamAndJoe #SaveBBC6Music

He doesn't of course, because this is the blog of an Adam and Joe obsessive. However, Adam's DoND contestant voice reminds me of David Earl's tortured character in this otherwise little-bit-dull nibblet from the 2007 Christmas pre-record. Yesterday's post brought it to mind.

This was from the present exchange show and Joe had given Adam a rubbs, £ 9.99 electronic game that didn't even have Noel's voice to enjoy. I reckon the reason this doesn't make such good radio is because the actual toy is rubbish. However, less shambolic presenters would have aborted several minutes before our beloved idiots did. If you stick with it to the end, you'll hear the kind of festive Buckles Destruction we have grown to love. Other electronic games that are death-traps are available.
Happy Christmas Everybody!

Podcast Day - Yeah! Is this the first sniff ofBoggins? #AdamAndJoe #SaveBBC6Music

You may not be able to believe this but long before the Adam And Joe Show on BBC 6Music was rebranded as "Boggins" (29th August 2009), Adam discovered the stinky little dog which was later to become the show's temporary and controversial mascot. He used it to start the podcast more than a year ago on 1st March 2009.

Hearing this has reminded me that Adam once thought Boggins sounded a bit like Brian Gittins but I remember another voice he used like that so I'll dig it out for tomorrow's sound slug.

Make Your Video for Adam Buxton's "Changes" #AdamAndJoe #SaveBBC6Music

Adam's latest blog entry gives his views about the whole BBC 6Music situation but I'm a bit concerned that one section of the post may have been overlooked and that would be a dreadful shame.

Not only can you download Adam's wonderful, passionate song and learn the words, you can make a video for it and post a link in the comments section on Adam's YouTube Channel and he will judge it. Heck, he may even reward it. Here's what he says.....
So anyway, this song! It’s a version of Bowie’s Changes that features my impression of David and some painful singing (with the help of 6 Music’s Tom Robinson on the choruses! Thanks Tom!) I did a full length version but it was a little too gruelling so here’s a slightly shorter one for you to listen to, ignore, use to torture terror suspects, whatever you fancy. However, if you did like it and felt sufficiently moved, you might like to make a video for it! Then in May I’ll pick my favourite and award some kind of prize, say Adam Buxton/Adam & Joe odds and sods and tickets to BUG! Wow! Imagine all the Adam Buxton/Adam & Joe odds and sods and tickets to BUG! What could the Adam Buxton odds and sods be?! My socks! Bits of my hair!! Or my book!!! Not a book I’ve written, just a book I own. I don’t know, I’ll work something out, but anyway, here’s the song with lyrics beneath in case you want to study them for your English degree. And if you do make a video post a link on my You Tube channel comments section.
LISTEN TO THE SONG!

The Gospel According to Richard Herring #AdamAndJoe #SaveBBC6Music

I realise that the title of today's post may be somewhat controversial but it's Jesus' special day (and let's face it, he's got less than a week left to do his work in the world) so stay with me.
The great, big, adorable bear did some world class bible mangling on yesterday's show and once I'd wiped the splattered smoothie from my screen, I sucked it out and considered using it to replace the "Pardon Me" ring tone that I'm currently annoying people with.

Of course, this could never have been instead of a daily nugget from Adam and Joe so I'll pop that up first.

It's a mark of my feline fetish that I derived the title for this little spoolt from the tiniest part at the end of an otherwise non-cat related ramble from 8th December 2007 about simple but satisfying things.
Since both are alluded to in this post, MY simple satisfaction of the week was in noting that both Chris 'Saltyman' Salt and Dan Pate made little posts on the BBC 6Music Blog.  The loyal troupes are gathering.

Richard's bible bobble is next but since it's Sunday (international day of overindulgence) I thought it was appropriate to also include a rare, in fact twice-only-played jingle from Adam. This is for anyone who has committed their day of rest to making a video for Adam's "Changes" (see below the line) today.

Description: On Saturday 27th March at 12pm, we will gather together outside Broadcasting House to protest against the closure of BBC 6Music.
We have lined up some well-known speakers and live buskers to create an air of festivity. This is a celebration of our beloved station; a demonstration of support for the staff, musicians, and a collective show to the Consultation team that we do not want to lose our station.
What the BBC proposes is unacceptable. 6Music is the only place that caters for our diverse tastes; the only station where you will hear Howling Bells played back to back with Seasick Steve; The Isley Brothers leading into dEUS, Delphic, Yeasayer and all topped off with dash of Half Man Half Biscuit.
The DJs play the music they love for people who love music. It is valuable showcase for new bands and artists, and regardless of what the BBC thinks, we will not find this on Radio 2.
So please join us on the 27th. Come along to show your solidarity and support; bring a flask of tea and have a sing-along all in the name of saving 6Music. Invite everyone you know who might not have been invited through the Facebook group and let’s make this a protest to remember!

The History of The Archers on BBC 6Music #AdamAndJoe #SaveBBC6Music

Today's choice of clip was a no brainer but if you're not sure why that might be, you can find out here.

If you're new to this silly dribble of noises, I should point out that this was one of my favourite weeks of Adam and Joe nonsense ever - 13th June 2009. If you can track down the entire show (and you know you can) I heartily recommend you listen to it......indoors.

Kate Oates from The Archers production team responded during the next week and you can listen to how this was covered in the 20th June 2009 show.

Joe goes too far again #AdamAndJoe #SaveBBC6Music

The temptation to lazily post Adam Buxton's incredible 6Music "Changes" track today was almost overwhelming. However, I took a stern look at myself in the mirror, did a couple of slaps and a breathless mutter of "snap out of it" before picking around to find this.

Something in Adam's blog made me track this bit down. I've half a mind to gather together all the times that Joe 'goes too far' & wiggle them into a visual funny but if the Castle found it, they might smack a P45 on his botty (and if there was any justice in the world, that would be my  job).

This is Not A Song #AdamAndJoe #SaveBBC6Music

Trying to redress the Buckles love balance today with a rarely played (and some might say for good reason) little ditty from Commander Cornballs.

Having started off by not really enjoying the laborious pressure of doing Song Wars every week, successive early wins salved Joe's competitive lust and ego. So when Joe had to take a weekend off and learned that Song Wars would go ahead without him, his little eyes started a-poppin' and he felt the need to dribble this nonsense into our ears.  Truth be told, he'd apparently just bought his Kaossilator and really wanted to take it for a musical run down the track.

From 8th March 2008

You can find a brand new YouTube video of Adam using his Kaossilator but I'm not going to link it here because it's really important that you watch it in the context of the "In B Flat" thingamy. So open that page, set some of them going and then go to Adam's channel & punch his button.

**Please note that this is intended to be a friendly, peaceful and safe protest. **

Adam Buxton Day on Boggins.Posterous #SaveBBC6Music #AdamAndJoe

I thought this was going to be a silly tongue-in-cheek piece on Radio One last night but it appears to be seriously telling people how to make fan videos.

I've popped Adam's contribution on here in case you already know how to make a fan video and don't want to listen to the entire show but for a couple of choice interviews, please try to make the time, somehow.

I might collect the bits that Adam refers to and display/embed them on my main blog later today but in the meantime, in the unlikely event that you haven't already checked them out, here we have Frank Black, a very poor quality version of the Gorky's Zygotic Mynci film, Radiohead's Nude and Jigsaw then probably the Buxton video I play more than any other because of it's simple, perfect execution - Spoon.

Of course, the main event of the day was feverishly watching the Guardian Webchat at 11am and Adam diligently stuck around for 100 odd minutes. It was organised by the lovely John Plunkett who had to cut and paste at the start due to a misdirection.  If you just want to read Adam's comments, they are here.

Podcast Intro Day - Star Wars versus Hawaii5-0 #SaveBBC6Music #AdamAndJoe

From 4th April 09

Listener James Chandwick explains the technical reasons why Joe is bound to win the Intro Wars (aside from being unbearably haughty if he doesn't).

Neanderthal Man #SaveBBC6Music #AdamAndJoe

Listener, Craig Machin shares his appraisal of the incredible, Song Wars winning  "James Rohan, Neanderthal Man" by Adam Buxton.

At the end of this link we are treated to one of Joe's favourite accents which harps back to the halcyon days of summer holidays with his family. I can only presume he has refrained from deploying this accent on the set  of "Attack the Block" for fear of it seeming to take the piss out of Luke Treadaway's charming lilt.

Joe also experiences a vocal breakdown not heard since the Roger Moore Interview for which Adam has to cover while the Joe-Bot is rebooted.

All in all, not such a smashing week for pumpkins.

Everyone Knows Rungens #SaveBBC6Music #AdamAndJoe

From 29th Aug 09
This tiny sound-bob was selected because of a brief twonversation with @LucyAnnabel  yesterday.
If anyone has a link to a BitTorrent for the BBC4 documentary "Rungens and the Township Sound" I'd be really grateful - bemused, confused, slightly scared, tickled but really grateful.
